Drums & Drum-Making
Drums
The use of drums and rattles is a sacred practice, and one that can bring you closer to the magic that is spirit. Allow yourself to open to the infinite possibilities of healing with the beat of a Native American-style hoop drum, or hand-made rattle.
The use of drums and rattles in ritual and healing is a well-known tradition. Drumming and rattling are techniques used to alter the state of mind and reach deep states of consciousness.
Every cell of our bodies listens to the drumbeat. Scientific evidence exists showing the increase of cellular immune components associated with drumming. Drumming enhances relaxation and theta-wave production producing pleasure, enhanced awareness, and release of emotional trauma. The drumbeat is likened to the heartbeat of the earth, and the beat of our mother’s heart as heard from within the womb.

Drum-making
Igniting Spirit drums and rattles are created in a sacred, respectful, and loving way. The spirits of the animals and trees who have given their lives are honored in the process. Each drum and rattle is birthed into creation; each new voice is celebrated and cherished.
Custom drums may also be requested. In the process of creating your personal drum, Karen undertakes a shamanic journey to ask the spirits which type of drum is calling you: elk, deer, horse, bear, moose, goat, etc. (Specific drum types can also be requested.) This journey becomes a part of the story of the drum, and accompanies the drum to its new owner.
Drums come in the following sizes: 13”, 15”, 17”, or 20” and include a beater. Drum bags are also available for an additional charge.
